# Beds: 23 (includes 7 Urgent Care Rooms)

Mission: The goal of the Emergency Department is to deliver high quality critical, emergent and urgent care while maintaining a safe, respectful and non-discriminatory environment. We accomplish this mission by providing 24-hour per day professional services utilizing Experienced Emergency Medicine Physicians, Emergency Medicine Midlevel Providers, and Registered Nurses certified in ACLS, PALS and TNCC.

Vision: To be the area’s employer of choice.

Common treatments/types of patients: Our Emergency Department offers 2 distinct services to meet patient needs. These services are: Fast Track – As the name suggests, this area of the Emergency Department is designed to provide rapid care for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. This area is open 7 days a week, 11a-11p. Main Emergency Department – Equipment and services to treat stable, urgent and emergent illnesses and injuries are available 24 hours a day.

Special team: We have a self-governing steering committee (consisting of employees and physicians) who are accountable for responsibilities but can also make positive changes in our unit.

Special training for new RNs: TNCC (Trauma), ENPC, PALS, ACLS requirements, Triage First HCA courses. All new RNs receive a preceptor as well as orientation based on individual needs.

What To Expect

New hires can expect experienced preceptors, streamlined orientation, and teamwork.

My Management Style

My management style revolves around self governance. I believe I am the mediator for the team. I am able to give the team the power and tools to do what they need for the ER to be a high functioning department.

Our Team

The Emergency Department staff works together to give optimal patient care; to share health and safety skills and knowledge with the community; to train students in various health care professions. We have strong team cohesiveness, clinical experience, and flexibility. I am very proud of the growth in our team – maturity, accountability, independence. My employees truly are the experts in the ER. Besides working, we enjoy celebrating birthdays (monthly), luncheons, pot lucks, parties, showers, and dinners away from work. We like each other even away from work! We also keep a photo board in our lounge to highlight our celebrations and milestones.

Choose the ER and Gulf Coast Medical Center because our leadership team is very accessible – unlike any other team anywhere else. We are very open door, family oriented, and flexible. We are looking for team players, with new ideas.

The Panama City area:

The area has a small town feel but with big city advantages. It is easy to know people here. For culture lovers, we have performing arts, cultural events, wine testing, art exhibits and music festivals. We have great parks for kids too. There is so much to offer for everyone!
