Our flexible benefit package lets you choose the coverage the best meets your needs and the needs of your family. Your insurance benefits include: health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, long-term and short-term disability, employee life and dependent life insurance, as well as flexible spending accounts for both healthcare and daycare expenses. In addition to the 401(k) retirement plan, other services and benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday Pay, Extended Illness Pay, and Tuition Reimbursement, among many others.
Eligibility begins the first day of the month following two full consecutive months of employment. These are considered Choice Benefits because that’s what you get – A Choice! Choice Benefits are paid for with pre-tax dollars. If you decline certain benefits you may receive additional cash in your paycheck. Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center pays a portion of the benefits cost for both full-time and part-time employees. Participation in the following programs is determined by your work status (Full Time, Part Time or PRN).
Continuation of Group Health Coverage (COBRA)
COBRA allows you to pay for continued medical and/or dental coverage should a “qualifying event” occur that would cause you or a covered dependent to lose benefit eligibility.
Core Plus Benefits
Portable benefits can be chosen for individual or family needs. You may choose any or all of the following: Legal Assistance, Voluntary Permanent Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Care Insurance and Choice Auto Insurance.
The plan includes preventative care such as checkups and cleanings, basic restorative services, and after 12 months of coverage by an HCA dental plan, major restorative care as well as orthodontia.
Dependent Life Insurance
If you elect coverage, full time employees may choose coverage amounts of $5,000 or $10,000 per eligible dependent and $5,000 up to $50,000 for spouse. Part time employees who have elected coverage for themselves may choose $5,000 coverage for both spouse and eligible dependents.
Flexible Spending Accounts
HCA Flexible Spending accounts allow for convenience as well as tax savings. There are two plans in which you may participate in: HealthCare Flexible Spending and Day Care Flexible Spending.
Basic Life Insurance equal to your annual base salary is provided at no cost to you. You may purchase Supplemental Life Insurance up to five times your annual base salary and receive Accidental Death & Dismemberment at no additional cost; including a $25,000 seatbelt clause, $5,000 airbag clause, and a “living benefit” clause.
Long Term Disability
LTD coverage can help protect you from the financial consequences of a disability. Should you become totally disabled for longer than five months, Long Term Disability will pay up to either 50 or 60 percent of your salary, once criteria are met.
Four PPO plans are offered, all of which provide comprehensive healthcare coverage for physician’s visits, hospital care, prescription drug, and behavioral health expenses. Your inpatient hospitalization charges at any HCA facility is covered at 100% under any of the plans that we offer.
Our vision care plan provides you with a yearly comprehensive eye exam, lense benefit every 12 months, and $130 allowance for frames every 24 months. The plan also allows members to save 15% on laser surgery.

Services & Benefits
Adoption assistance can help you with eligible expenses, such as agency, placement, attorney and court fees, for each child you adopt with an annual maximum.
Assistance with adoption expenses is made on an after-tax basis.
Full time and part time employees may receive up to 24 hours of time off with pay for a death in the immediate family.
Café Quick Pay
“GEMpay” payroll deduction allows you to purchase meals using your hospital ID badge.
Continuous Service Credit
Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center recognizes continuous service with HCA Healthcare. If you transfer to another HCA facility within 180 days, your continuing service date with HCA will remain.
Direct deposit enables you to receive your pay without having to make a trip to the bank. In addition to net pay, we offer partial pay options as well. For added convenience, you may view your deposit vouchers on-line via a secure web site.
- Tuition Assistance
Full-time and part-time employees with six months of service are eligible for up to $2,500 per year in tuition reimbursement for both approved graduate and undergraduate courses.
- Scholarship & Student Loan Programs
Scholarship programs (including LPN to RN programs) are available through HCA and several educational companies. HCA works with several organizations who offer our employees and employees’ families’ special tuition and non-traditional student loan programs. Information is available on GED or CLEP programs.
Special activities, seasonal events, one-time offers and year-round discounts are enjoyed by employees and their families. Included are free meals on selected holidays, recognition programs and service awards, and discounted movie tickets just to name a few.
Employee Advisory Group (EAG)
Our Employee Advisory Group provides a forum to share ideas for improvement with management and gives you a voice in the workplace to discuss concerns and increase leadership’s awareness and sensitivity to those concerns.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
You are eligible for mental health/substance abuse benefits through ValueOptions. The ValueOptions network includes psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses and master’s-level counselors who specialize in mental health issues such as depression, stress, substance abuse and anxiety.
Extended Illness Bank (EIB)
This accrual of non-productive hours provides coverage to employees for periods of extended leave from work due to illness, injury, or disability once the employee has been placed on a medical leave of absence.
Full time, part time, and PRN non-exempt employees are eligible for holiday pay if their work schedule requires them to work on specified holidays. Employees will earn 1.5 times their hourly rate.
If you are called to jury duty on a scheduled work day, you will be paid for your time away from work less any court pay.
Get Fit Program
Our “Get Fit” program will reimburse a portion of your gym membership on a quarterly basis if you attend a gym at least 12 times per month. Payroll deduction for gym membership is also available.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
This consolidated time-off program combines time off for vacation, holidays, and unexpected absences. Accrual rates will increase with your years of service with HCA.
