Panama City, FL -- Thursday, November 8th Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center will reopen to patients. Following the medical evacuation of Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center, the hospital team along with its EMS and transport partners evacuated 139 patients by aircraft, helicopter, and ambulance to seven of our HCA sister hospitals across Florida.
“We are thankful for our extraordinary team and for the partnership of the hundreds of EMS, medical transport and healthcare providers who stepped in to care for our patients,” said COO, Holly Dean. “Since the storm, we have seen nearly 2,000 patients in our ER and medical practices – helping to meet the medical needs of our community even in the process of repairing and rebuilding our hospital.”
Gulf Coast Regional, which sustained significant damage during the storm, immediately began repairs to interior and exterior parts of the building. Internally, systems have been brought back online and all equipment has been checked. All of this is designed to ensure that we can safely provide care upon reopening.
“Our team has been working hard to rebuild areas of our facility that were heavily impacted by the storm,” said CEO, Brad Griffin. “While we are opening up with limited resources and services, we are very fortunate to be able to offer needed support to our community. We are a work in progress and plan to reopen additional services soon.”
To better serve our community, Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center will reopen to patients in multiple phases until we are 100% back online with all medical and surgical services. We will opening the following limited services on Thursday, November 8th:
- Inpatient Services
- Labor & Delivery Services
- Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care and Adult Intensive Care Services
- Cardiac & Cardiovascular Services
- Surgical Services
- Ancillary Services
Family members who are seeking information on where their loved ones were evacuated can call our Family Reunification phone line at 844-582-2350. This line is staffed 24/7. We will continue to provide regular updates via our Facebook page and the media.
