Pediatric ER
More than 20,000 pediatric patients are treated in Bay County emergency rooms each year – nearly half of them at Gulf Coast Medical Center. In recognition of the specific needs of pediatric patients, the hospital is opening the area’s first emergency care unit just for its young patients. The hospital’s Emergency Department Director Sheila Bradt says children aren’t small adults and need specialized care, especially during an emergency. “Starting July 1, we will open Gulf Coast Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Care. The centerpiece of our new service will be the addition of board certified pediatricians who specialize in emergency care. Our nurses who will work with our pediatric patients have also received specialized training.”
